First time here and they definitely did not disappoint, the service was great super friendly and personable staff, very lively place, calamari and egg rolls for an appetizer were awesome! The sushi was amazing! The moon roll and sky roll were definitely my favorite out of the 5 rolls I got, Cali-crunch, dragon and chefs tears I would recommend those all!

My wife invited me here. It was my first time and I really enjoyed it. I ordered the spicy dynamite sushi roll and I thought it was unique. We both love the ambience and their staff was very accommodating. We both agreed on what they serve was authentic. We enjoyed our stay and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended for those who are looking a small authentic Japanese restaurant.

My bf and I are self proclaimed sushi connoisseurs. We’ve tried MANY places over the years in the Chicagoland area. We are not shy of cost either! We have spent big bucks on sushi! No problem for us! This place was our first date a few years ago and it was very good (not THE BEST, But very good and reliable) The food has SEVERELY went downhill and when we tried it today it immediately became the worst sushi restaurant we ever had. we usually have a big appetite. We were hoping for some good leftovers for the next day as well, so ordered extra. We were sorely disappointed when we saw the plate of sushi arrive! We hate wasting food but we could not even stand to look at the plate In fact, we couldn’t wait for them to take it away! After leaving, the further we drove away from the place…the better we felt lol The look of it could be described that of head cheese with a bunch of mayonnaise squirted on top of it. It was a shame! because some of the pieces of sashimi looked very nice, but they were doused in watery mayonnaise. I really didn’t even know what I was eating. There was hardly any meat inside of the sushi except for β€œfillers.” The sushi that had Panko crunch on top was lit

I stop at Hayashi’s for lunch on a Saturday. Only one table was occupied, so I got a seat right away. The menu offered a wide selection of items to choose from. I ordered two of the special rolls and a green tea, and they arrived at the table promptly. The rolls were good but not outstanding. I went to the women's bathroom and found it needed some cleaning, although it was spacious. Hayashi has very good service, a special menu, and is well-decorated. They just need to make their rolls extraordinary.

This place is an absolute GEM!!! Hayashi is a quaint Japanese restaurant with all the charm of being in a completely different part of the world. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the ambiance is so warm and inviting! They have a wall filled with drawings given to them by their customers over the years! And the food was absolutely AMAZING!! I was only in town to do shopping but I will definitely be back to eat here again.
